Taylor’s debut album ‘Taylor Swift’ has officially sold over 5 million copies in the U.S which makes her the second female country artist to do this with two or more albums. Shania Twain was the last person to do this! This is a huge achievement and we can’t imagine the excitement that Taylor’s feeling right now because Shania is not only a legendary artist like Taylor, but she is also one of Taylor’s role models when it comes to why she wanted to get into country music. There’s no doubt that Speak Now will reach the 5 million mark as well! Congrats Taylor!

Taylor Swift’s eponymous debut album tops the 5 million mark in U.S. sales this week. It’s her second album to reach that sales level.

Shania Twain is the only other female country solo artist (besides Taylor Swift) to top the 5 million mark in U.S. sales with two or more albums. Twain hit the mark with three albums: Come On Over (15,502,000), The Woman In Me (7,654,000) and Up! (5,403,000). Swift has scored with Fearless (6,287,000) and now Taylor Swift (5,000,000). Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and LeAnn Rimes have each topped the 5 million mark with one album.
