This week, Taylor took her spot at #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 list. She is only the second female artist to claim this spot, so congratulations Taylor!
Taylor Swift takes over as the top artist in the U.S., as she vaults to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100, marking her first week atop the chart. She’d re-entered the list at No. 69 last week as buzz built for her new Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Shake It Off.”
The Artist 100 provides the first weekly ranking dedicated to measuring artist activity across Billboard’s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Billboard 200 albums chart and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
Swift soars to No. 1 on the Artist 100 with a gigantic 807 percent surge in overall points, and with digital song sales the biggest driver (67 percent) of her total weekly activity. Leading the way: 544,000 downloads sold for “Shake” in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, marking the biggest weekly total for a song this year. In addition to the Hot 100, the track also launches at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart.
Yay! I’m so happy for her. :)
