With the Guinness World Records 2016 edition available to buy from September, multi record breaker and singing superstar Taylor Swift earned her place in the book by banking the Most million-selling weeks on US albums charts: Taylor is the only act to notch up three million-selling weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.
The country-pop princess achieved this rare feat with first-week sales of her third, fourth and fifth studio albums. Speak Now shifted 1.047 million copies to bow at No.1 on 13 November 2010, Red crowned the chart with sales of 1.208 million copies on 10 November 2012, and 1989 debuted at No.1 on 15 November 2014 after selling 1.287 million units.
The “Shake It Off” star has come a long way since she burst onto the music scene back in 2006, and she has the records to prove it.
Back in November 2010 she had 11 separate tracks on the US Hot 100, with 10 of those tracks making their chart debuts, securing Swift an incredible record for the Most simultaneous US Hot 100 hits by a female.
Then Taylor’s 2012 hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” earned the musician a record for being the Fastest-selling digital single when it climbed to No.1 on the iTunes singles sales chart just 50 minutes after it was released.
