Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” scores the most first-week adds in pop radio history. Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown” also garner huge support.
In an absolutely monstrous week at pop radio, three songs received adds from over 100 Mediabase-monitored stations.
Two songs received more than the then-record 156 first-week Mediabase adds garnered by Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” in March 2015.
One song, ultimately, sets the new record.
Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” is that song. The fifth “1989” single garnered a whopping 178 pop radio adds in conjunction with this week’s official impact. The monstrous total is the greatest ever recorded at the pop format.
By scoring 165 adds, Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” would have set a new Mediabase record — and been most-added — in any other week. Thanks to Taylor Swift’s new single, it settles for second-most-added on this week’s board.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Downtown” follows as the week’s third-most-added song. While not enough for the top spot, its gigantic 134 add count is certainly nothing about which to sneeze.
