An Austin event that brings thousands each year is expected to be even bigger after announcing Taylor Swift will perform at Formula 1.
Organizer Bobby Epstein said in a news conference that they expect this year’s event to be the biggest Austin has ever seen. Drawing crowds from around the world to the Circuit of the America’s, Formula 1 is a huge economic boost for the city, according to Epstein.
With a big name like Swift, organizers have upgraded 12,000 parking spots to avoid the mud issues they faced during heavy rains last year. There were rumors after the devastating weather last year, that the race would be cancelled for 2016. Epstein said if it rains more than two inches before the race, fans will get a 105 percent ticket refund.
Also announced is the American team Haas, which will be new this year.
Tickets go on sale April 6. Swift will be performing on Saturday this year, unlike the past Sunday performances.
